Clinton M. (Clint) Guenther
Born in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1955, Clint grew up in the nearby town of Morgan City, Mississippi, where he attended Leflore County School and Pillow Academy, where he graduated as Salutatorian in 1973. He attended college at the University of Mississippi, from which he graduated summa cum laude in 1977. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity for which he served as Rush Chairman and Social Chairman. He was also inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Phi Alpha Delta. He attended law school at both the University of Mississippi and the Mississippi College School of Law, from which he received his juris doctorate with distinction in 1981, having served as Co-Chairman of the Moot Court, Appellate Division, and where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in Estate and Gift Taxation.
After graduation from law school, Clint practiced law with Holcomb, Dunbar, Connell, Merkel, Tollison & Khayat in Clarksdate, MS; Whittington, Brock, Swayze, Dale & Calhoun in Greenwood, MS; and Daniel, Coker, Horton & Bell, Jackson, MS, before joining the Upshaw & Ladner firm, now Upshaw, Williams, Biggers & Beckham, LLP, in Greenwood, MS where he has been a partner since 1990. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal district courts in the state of Mississippi, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.
He is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, the Leflore County Bar Association, the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA), on which he served on the Board of Directors from 1992-1995, and of which he served as President in 2001. In 2009, he was chosen by that Association to serve as the Representative for the State of Mississippi for the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and in 2013, he was recognized among the Leading Attorneys in Mississippi by the Mississippi Business Journal. His primary areas of practice are in civil litigation involving medical and professional liability, premises liability, products liability and general torts. Clint enjoys Martindale-Hubbard's highest A-V rating.
Clint is married to the former Lorie McEachern of Cleveland, MS. Clint and Lorie have four children, Eleanor, McKee, Clay and Faith, and three grandsons, Liam Guenther, and Sam and Charlie Braswell. Their daughter, Eleanor, is married to Justin Braswell.
